That's a Wrap - The 81st Tokyo Choral Festival Participation Report!

TRS has successfully completed its participation in the Tokyo Choral Festival for the 5th time! 🎶

During our warm‑up rehearsal, everyone was able to prepare for the performance with a calm and steady mindset.

Trusting the work we’ve built up over time, focusing on enjoying the moment, and picturing the musical landscape we wanted to share with the audience—each singer brought their heart into the music, and I truly feel we sang as one.

One of the special parts of this festival is receiving feedback from the conductors and from the other choirs performing in the same block. It’s a valuable learning opportunity every year, and something we always look forward to.

This time, we also had members who stepped onto the TRS stage for the very first time. Even if you feel calm beforehand, standing on stage naturally brings nerves.

Amid that tension, a few members told us that seeing conductor Brian’s smile right before the performance helped them feel “instantly reassured.”

It’s just a brief moment before the music begins—but that small sense of comfort and warmth is something unique to choir, where we create one shared piece of music together. Those quiet, ordinary moments become gentle memories that stay with each of us, and that too is part of the magic of choral singing.

As we look ahead to our next stage, we’ll take the lessons we discovered through this performance and continue to work through them carefully. Starting next week, we’ll return to rehearsal with fresh energy and renewed focus.
